  3. Executive Director report - Bob Shearman
    A. Bob reported that most of his time was spent on site visits, communication (web site, newsletter, etc.) and new program development and coordination.
    B. Coordinate a new initiative to establish an USDA ARS scientist position for turf.
    C. Coordinate effort to continue support of NTEP by USDA at Beltsville.
    D. Develop training workshop at ASA meetings.
  4. National Program Coordinators Report
    A. Most of Kevin's time is spent managing cultivar trials and producing and distributing annual reports.
    B. He is working with the University of Maryland to develop a new national research center.
    C. Has created a new color brochure with information on NTEP organization, activities and results.
    D. Report a fire in their seed storage area destroyed NTEP seed reserves.
  5. GCSAA/USGA/NTEP Onsite Testing
    A. 16 trials established, 8 bentgrass, 4 bentgrass and bermudagrass, and 4 bermudagrass.
    B. Most sites have established well.
  6. New Cultivar trials for fall 1998
    A. Fine Fescue, 3 maintenance level, 5 years, Investigators receive $8,000.
    B. Creeping Bentgrass, green height, 5 years, Investigators receive $8,000.
    C. Creeping Bentgrass, fairway height, 5 years, Investigators receive $8,000.
    D. All new trials are developed through a coordinating committee. They independently rank the potential sites for this. Number of sites selected dependent on number of entries.
  7. New services
    A. Two new NTEP services were discuss. A custom analysis of NTEP data will be available for a fee.
    B. A database lookup system is planned for the web site to speed up retrieval of data tables for specific situations.
  8. Election of Committee Officers
    A. Tony Koski, Chairman; Tom Fermanian, Vice-chairman; Jeff Nus, Secretary.
