* NEW- ONLINE COURSE - January 2010*

Kansas State University’s Division of Horticulture is offering a new course entitled “Water Issues in the Lawn and Landscape” starting January 2010 at the undergraduate (HORT 405) and graduate (HORT 640) levels.
HORT 405 and 640 will be offered online and therefore, available globally to students and professionals seeking continuing education. This course will examine critical water issues related to irrigation in urbanizing watersheds, with an emphasis on water quality and quantity. Factors impacting water scarcity and quality will be discussed. Successful completion of this course will help students understand the interrelatedness of correct irrigation practices and water quality/quantity, and will equip them to help protect water resources through application of science-based irrigation practices.
Upon completion of the auditing portion of the course students will be better prepared for the Irrigation Association's Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) or CGIA - Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor exam that is recognized internationally as an industry "standard." GCSAA is also reviewing the course to determine education points available upon completion.
For more information go to Kansas State University’s Division of Continuing Education’s website and search for Water Issues in the Landscape or contact Dale Bremer (bremer@ksu.edu, 785-532-1429).
